Back to school time means changes for children and families. Transitions are exciting opportunities for children to learn and grow. Parents and early childhood professionals share a role in making children feel safe and secure as they move to new educational settings. Of course, such milestones in children's lives can cause anxiety for both children and parents. Strengthening the ties between school and home will help create a smoother transition.
What can parents do?1. Start daily routines and rituals. Let your child become involved with packing lunch or laying out clothes. Also, set a specific bed time.
2. Be enthusiastic about school. If you are excited and confident, your child will be as well.
3. Have family time each night to share thoughts about the day.
4. Ask you child to rate their day 1-5. This way you can gauge how their day went, even if they can’t remember specific details.

Middle School Is Coming...

Mrs. Scepaniak will be speaking to the 5th grade classes next week about middle school.  Students will learn new vocabulary words related to middle school, what the expectations are, and how to be successful!  It is both an exciting and anxious time for students and parents, but rest assured that the preparations are underway to make it a seamless transition. 

Here are the remaining upcoming dates to mark on your calendar: 
Thursday, March 31, at 6:00               Parent Open House at McCleskey
Tuesday, May 10, at 9:30                   Blackwell students visit McCleskey
Friday, May 13, at 9:30                      Blackwell students visit Daniell

Please make sure all immunizations are up to date for your student's transition.  You may turn in updated forms to the front office.
